Today I echo the Psalmist, “Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from Him”. As many of us are aware, May is observed as Child’s Month in Jamaica. The National Child’s Month Committee, responsible for spearheading each year’s activity has coined the theme for this year “Listen Up: Children’s Voices Matter”. Its focus is on children being given the leverage to express themselves.
As any mother or father knows, the process of raising a child is rich with emotions, uncertainties, joys, sorrows, and many teachable moments. We have been given an awesome responsibility by God to raise them well. As we begin this month and go throughout, I encourage us to celebrate our children, reminding them how valuable they are.
My guest today is Marcia Webster, an educator, a member of the Hopewell Missionary Church, and the National Children’s Ministry Director of The MCAJ.
