Pastor Dalkeith Bennett continues the series of five messages on “Faith in Action – Five Unlikely Heroes”. The objective of this series is to help us embrace the idea that anyone can be a “Hero of Faith” if we allow God to use us.
For Heritage Month, I have chosen to examine the lives of five individuals found in the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews chapter 11, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah.
Today we look at the life of Gideon (Judges 6-8). God used him to rescue the Israelites from the oppression of the Midianites. Even though Gideon might not have seen himself as a warrior, God saw not what he was but what he would become through the strength God would provide. The chief lesson we learn from the life of Gideon is that our God is willing to use imperfect people, with imperfect faith, to accomplish His purposes on earth.
