Today Reverend Jacob McLean continues the series, Lessons for Life from The Book of Daniel. His purpose for this series is to address issues in the church, society, and our personal lives from the perspective of the scriptures. This is so we can know the mind of God and respond in meaningful ways through repentance and change.
Today we discuss Daniel 1:8-13 using the Message Bible version, “Looking at the consequences of commitment”. Here was faith in action. Our beliefs must be the basis of values, as well as the actions that we take. Daniel and his companions knew their God. They knew the history of their faith, and without doubt, remembered the stalwarts of the faith. They saw that God, who had moved on behalf of the Patriarchs would also move on their behalf. What stands out very prominently in the life of Daniel is knowing when to take a stand. We can learn several life lessons from Daniel’s life today.
