Pastor Dalkeith Bennett concludes the series of messages on “Faith in Action – Five Unlikely Heroes” in this episode.

For Heritage Month, I have chosen to examine the lives of five individuals found in the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews chapter 11, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah. Though we may consider each of these persons as unlikely candidates for the title of “heroes”, the fact is they are considered heroes by God. Like them, each one of us can be heroes if we make ourselves available to be used by God.

Our hero of faith for today is Jephthah, whose story is found in Judges 10-12. During his lifetime, the Jews had abandoned exclusive worship of God and had mixed their religion with the worship of the gods of all the nations around them. They were delivered into the hands of oppressors for 18 years, from where they called out to God for help. The warrior Jephthah, whose mother was a prostitute, was sent to their aid. Follow along as we discuss his story.

In the words of Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders, and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
