Reverend Mark Dawes continues the series on “The Incarnation of The Lord Jesus Christ” which started on November 7th. The incarnation took place about 2,000 years ago when the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to the earth as a baby and lived 33 years until His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to heaven. While Jesus lived on the earth He was the God-Man. Jesus was, and remains, fully God and fully man.
Today our meditation comes from 1 John 4:9-10. “In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins“.
This passage is teaching us that one of the reasons for the incarnation of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, was God’s love for sinners. It does not say that God is capable of love, nor that He tends to be loving, but that love is of the very nature of God. So, if one wants to learn what love is, then study who God is.
