Good morning, listeners.
Today we turn our attention to an issue that is deeply personal, yet profoundly important to our families, communities and nation: suicide prevention. In recent years, we have elevated mental health and wellness as matters of national concern. However, alongside those developments, recent deaths by suicide remind us that policies and programs must ultimately reach people.
Joining us today is Asha McKie Smith, a licensed Clinical and Community Psychologist in Grenada. She will help us to understand what is happening, what we should be looking for and, most importantly, what we can do.
Dr Margarett Barnett is a Vice President of Jamaica Theological Seminary. She has spent over 20 years working in private and nonprofit organisations that provide services to young people and their families.
