The African proverb says it takes a village to raise a child. But what happens when the village itself is wounded? What happens when the community meant to nurture becomes a place of neglect, trauma and survival? This morning we shine a light on the children growing up in the shadows of dysfunction, those navigating violence, poverty, addiction and fractured family structures, not by choice, but by birthright. And we ask the hard question, how do we begin to heal the village so that it can once again protect, guide and uplift its children.
